FinTech Wales aims to make Wales a global leader in FinTech

On Monday, FinTech Wales was launched at the annual Innovate Finance Global Summit at the Guildhall in London.

This new, not-for-profit independent membership organisation has been set up to champion the FinTech and Financial Services industry in Wales, and was launched by Richard Theo (the UK Government’s FinTech Envoy for Wales).

FinTech Wales will run as a trade association, with its member companies either headquartered or operating in Wales. Its primary aims are to act as a global voice for Welsh FinTech, to encourage FinTech entrepreneurs and innovators to locate in Wales, and to support existing FinTech firms in Wales.

An advisory board of 20 people has been set up, including representatives from Credas, Confused.com, Admiral, The Principality and includes our Financial Services Regulatory lawyer, Rachel Hillier.

Rachel said:

It’s great that FinTech in Wales now has a voice.  Wales already has some amazing FinTech businesses and FinTech Wales will showcase and support them, whilst encouraging more investment in the FinTech sector in Wales.
