Alys Carlton (Capital Law)

Alys Carlton

Alys is a corporate lawyer, who focuses on strategic advice to high-growth management teams. She co-leads the Corporate team.

Alys acts for management teams, SMEs and investors, often in the tech sphere.

Before joining the firm, Alys spent 11 years with a magic circle firm in London and Milan, as a corporate lawyer, working mainly on cross-border transactions.

She has advised on transactions backed by a range of funders, including Primary Capital, Cairngorm Capital, FPE, Synova Capital and BGF, as well as acted for private equity funders and on M&A transactions, national and international.

Alys is actively engaged in the advancement of women in business, and is on the panel advising Welsh Government on how best to support entrepreneurial women. She was shortlisted for Legal Adviser of the Year at the 2018 Women in Finance Awards.

Alys is a trustee of The Aloud Charity. She is bilingual in English and Welsh, and also speaks French and Italian.

Alys advised a group of 35 of our manager-shareholders on the sale of RFIB to Calera Capital. It was a long and complicated sale process, and each manager had to be comfortable with the complex terms of the investment. Alys brought her considerable experience of working with management teams to bear and was an excellent adviser – patient and tenacious, clear and commercial.
