Laura Herdman

Laura Spendiff

Laura advises on a broad range of M&A and corporate finance matters, with a specialism in investments, from seed stage right up to large, private equity-backed MBOs.

Laura has led teams of Capital lawyers through the full range of corporate transactions. She has particular experience in advising funders and companies on equity investments of all sizes, especially growth capital. She is favoured by her clients for the way she delivers technically excellent work in a clear and commercial way.

Laura is well connected in the South Wales SME market and is the preferred legal adviser of leading local Angel investor, Ashley Cooper, and his portfolio of companies, including Simply Do Ideas, Careercake, Nudjed, Who Knows Wins and Perpetual V2G. She also has experience of much larger deals – she has worked with Capital’s long-standing client, WestBridge Capital, and recently advised a consortium of investors on the £7.6m acquisition of a facilities management business in London.

Laura is recognised as a rising star in the legal directories. She was named ‘one of the thirty lawyers and accountants to watch’ in WalesOnline, and was shortlisted as Insider’s Young Dealmaker of the Year in 2017.

I can’t speak highly enough of Capital Law. Laura Herdman, who acted on our behalf when securing our early-stage seed investment, was exceptional in every respect – professional, knowledgeable and extremely thorough, yet friendly, personable and very easy to talk to at all times. I was also very impressed with the level of communication displayed throughout the entire process. We will definitely continue our commercial relationship with Capital Law as our company grows.
