Nick Pester (Capital Law)

Nick Pester

Nick is Head of Insurance & InsurTech at Capital Law. He acts as an advisor / mentor to a number of individual InsurTech businesses, as well as wider accelerator / incubator programmes.

Nick has specialised in insurance law for more than 10 years. He has a wide range of expertise, spanning regulatory & compliance, wordings, policy coverage advice, fraudulent claims, binder disputes, and third party recovery & liability claims.

His experience covers various classes of business; Property, Fine Art & Specie, Cargo, Construction & Engineering, Product & Public Liability, and Specialty / Contingency losses.

Nick has worked on a number of high-profile London market claims, including the Hatton Garden jewellery heist, a serious fire at a prestigious London Members Club, and the cancellation of an international Creamfields event.

He is a market leader in the InsurTech space, running a cross-practice team which assists various InsurTech businesses with sector specific legal and commercial issues, including GDPR requirements, and legal & compliance work around Blockchain and ICOs.

Nick is one of the few lawyers in London with a deep knowledge of Insurtech – not just the legal aspects, but the technical and functional context too. He plays an active part in the Insurtech ecosystem, has an excellent network, makes regular introductions and is generally supportive to both new entrants finding their feet and to old hands like me! As InsurTech keeps growing and more investment money piles in there will be no shortage of lawyers claiming specialist knowledge, but Nick is the real deal.
